You can enjoy pizza and lasagna in one single bite with this delicious lasagna roll, seasoned with the taste of classic Italian pizza, a combination of good quality tomato sauce mixed with cheese, spices, and extra virgin olive oil.
Make your own tomato sauce in minutes by combining stir-fried garlic with tomato puree and oregano. Add three popular Italian cheeses, mozzarella, ricotta, and parmesan. Mozzarella gives a mild, soft and sticky texture, Ricotta adds a creamy texture, while Parmesan adds a salty bite combined with tomatoes to create a classic taste.
Ingredient
Lasagna
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 10 whole wheat lasagna noodles, boiled according to package
- 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated
- 2 cups of grated mozzarella skim
- 1/2 cup of ricotta cheese
- 1 teaspoon of dried oregano
Sauce
- 2 (14 ounces) cans of diced tomatoes with liquid
- 1/2 teaspoon halal or sea
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cloves of garlic, chopped
- 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil
- 1 1/4 teaspoon of dried oregano
Instructions
- Over medium heat, in a pan with extra-virgin olive oil, saute garlic for 1 minute. Add canned tomatoes, bring to a boil then reduce heat to a boil. Season with salt, pepper, and dried oregano then simmer for 15 - 10 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
- Pour 1 cup of sauce on the bottom of a 13 x 9 inch casserole pan, set aside.
- Combine cheese, pepper and oregano. Spread the cheese mixture evenly on top of each roll of lasagna, holding 1/2 cup to the top. Put 1 tablespoon of sauce on the cheese. Roll it to close, then place it on a baking sheet, stitching it side down.
- Pour 1 1/2 cups of the sauce on top and sprinkle the remaining cheese mixture. Serve the remaining sauce with bread rolls. Cover with foil and bake in a hot oven for 25-30 minutes or until the cheese has completely melted.
- Leave the roll for a few minutes before serving.
